Patient Name: Patient ID# Order Arrival Time : 11:33:00 PM EST
Patient Age/Sex: 0/Male Date Of Exam:
Type Of Study: CT Neck Soft Tissue No Of Images/Views: 28
Patient Location: Inpatient Referring Physician
History: Pt. age: 5 months. R/o Abscess.

Preliminary Report

CT neck without contrast.

Findings:

Evaluation is markedly limited due to the lack of intravenous contrast. There is a 3.2 x 2.8 cm hypodense mass in the right parapharyngeal/pharyngeal mucosal space, with marked narrowing of the contiguous oropharynx. The hypopharynx, supraglottic and infraglottic larynx, vocal cords and upper trachea are unremarkable. The superficial soft tissues of the neck are unremarkable. The osseous structures are unremarkable. Air space opacity is noted in the posterior segment of the right upper lobe.

Impression:

3.2 x 2.8 cm hypodense mass in the right parapharyngeal/pharyngeal mucosal space, suggestive of a phlegmon/abscess with marked airway narrowing. Further anatomic delineation is limited by the absence of intravenous contrast. Recommend clinical correlation and further evaluation with intravenous contrast CT.
Focal consolidation in the right upper lobe.
