Post-operative Care

The patient was mobilized immediately and was non weight-bearing on his right leg. Knee range-of-motion exercises were begun on the first post-operative day. After eight weeks, the patient was allowed to begin partial weight-bearing, and was full weight-bearing 14 weeks after surgery. He had a persistent post-operative limp which slowly improved over time. This limp was attributed to abductor weakness.

X-rays taken one year after surgery showed complete healing of the fracture Figure 5 and Figure 6. The implant was removed two years after injury because of pain over the greater trochanter.
