Inserting the Nail

Assemble the insertion instruments

Orient the Insertion Handle [357.112] laterally and match the flats on the handle and nail. The anterior bow of the implant must be aligned with the anterior bow of the femur.

Place the Connecting Screw [357.095] into the Insertion Handle and thread it into the distal end of the nail. Tighten the Connecting Screw with the SpannerWrench [321.25].
Do not over tighten.

Slide the Hammer Guide [357.22] through the Slide Hammer [357.29] and attach the Hammer Guide to the Connecting Screw. Finger-tighten the assembly.

Alternate Technique:
A hammer may also be used to insert the nail. The distal end of the connecting screw is the direct striking surface for the hammer.
