FOREIGN BROADCAST INFORMATION SERVICE (FBIS)
The FBIS is ostensibly a subsidiary of the CIA charged with providing news clipping services on politics, military, economic and technology news to agencies of the US government and its “contractors”. You can’t use this service otherwise, and it wouldn’t be particularly wise to hang around at this “front gate” for long if you don’t qualify. Don’t ask how we know this: we’re protocol-dislexic, so we could tell you, but then we’d have to kill ourselves. The public version of this service (sans politico- military news, of course) is the next listing: NTIS.

WORLD NEWS CONNECTION
On the other hand, the NTIS/FBIS will gladly make available to you, the taxpaying public, this great collection of really secret stuff via this news-shell... for a subscription price.

UNITED STATES INFORMATION AGENCY (USIA)
These folks are another US government agency and the ostensible Voice of America (and general info-broadcast news) successors to Christians In Action (read the acronym). This outfit is a good starting point for country profiles.

JOEL BARLOW REPORTS FROM BURMA/MYANMAR
Joel goes straight to the hills of Burma to track everything from infrastructure to drug lords, up close and personal. A dose of reality in a world rife with diplo-speak from this country which is home to Burma's President and Nobel Peace Prize Winner Suu Ky, long under house arrest at the hands of the SLORC military government.
