It straddles northern Chester County and southern Berks County along French Creek. The park is the home of two lakes: Hopewell Lake, a 68-acre (0.28 km2) warm water lake, and Scotts Run Lake, a 22-acre (0.09 km2) cold water lake. The state record smallmouth bass was caught in Scotts Run Lake. There are extensive forests, and almost 40 miles (64.4 km) of hiking and equestrian trails. The park is also friendly to mountain bikers, having some renowned technical trails. Hopewell Furnace National Historic Site, which features a cold-blast furnace restored to its 1830s appearance, is surrounded by the park. A pool at nearby Hopewell Lake is open daily from 11:00am until 7:00pm from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend. Disc golf and orienteering Two disc golf courses are open year round at the park. Both courses wind through the woods near Hopewell Lake. Score cards and maps of the courses are available at the park. French Creek State Park is considered by some as the "Orienteering Capital of North America". A permanent course is set up at the park. Marsh Creek State Park - website Marsh Creek State Park is a 1,705 acre (6.90 km2) Pennsylvania State Park in Upper Uwchlan and Wallace Townships, Chester County, Pennsylvania in the United States. The park is the location of the 535 acre (2.16 km2) man made Marsh Creek Lake. The lake is a stop for migrating waterfowl. Marsh Creek State Park is two miles (3.22 km) west of Eagle on Pennsylvania Route 100. Boating/Fishing Marsh Creek Lake is open to fishing and recreational boating. It is a warm water fishery with largemouth bass, black crappie, walleye, tiger muskellunge, and channel catfish all swimming in its waters. The lake is a designated "big bass" lake only bass 15 inches (380 mm) and greater may be kept. Bass smaller than 15 inches (380 mm) must be released back into the lake. Gasoline powered boats are prohibited at Marsh Creek Lake. Boaters are restricted to using non powered or electric powered boats. All boats must be properly registered with any state. Fishing Struble Lake has a number of warmwater/coolwater species, with good to excellent fishing for walleye, channel catfish and black crappie. All species of fish are managed under Commonwealth Inland Waters regulations. Shore fishing is permitted. Fish habitat structures have been placed in the lake over the years as part of the Commission's Cooperative Fish Habitat Improvement Program. Boating Boating at Struble Lake is limited to boats powered by electric motors and un-powered boats. The primary type of boats used on the lake are moderate-draft fishing boats, sailboats and recreational runabouts. A surfaced launch ramp and loading dock is available. There is a gravel parking lot that can accommodate at least 10 vehicles, and some limited lakeside parking.
