French Creek State Park - website

French Creek State Park is a 7,526-acre (30.46 km2) Pennsylvania State Park in North Coventry and Warwick Townships in Chester County and Robeson and Union Townships in Berks County, Pennsylvania in the United States. It straddles northern Chester County and southern Berks County along French Creek. The park is the home of two lakes: Hopewell Lake, a 68-acre (0.28 km2) warm water lake, and Scotts Run Lake, a 22-acre (0.09 km2) cold water lake. The state record smallmouth bass was caught in Scotts Run Lake. There are extensive forests, and almost 40 miles (64.4 km) of hiking and equestrian trails. The park is also friendly to mountain bikers, having some renowned technical trails. Hopewell Furnace National Historic Site, which features a cold-blast furnace restored to its 1830s appearance, is surrounded by the park. The Six Penny Day Use Area and Group Camp are listed on the National Register of Historic Places. French Creek State Park is located off of Pennsylvania Route 345 to the south of Birdsboro. Hunting and fishing
Hunting is permitted on over 6,000 acres (24.28 km2) of French Creek State Park. Hunters are expected to follow the rules and regulations of the Pennsylvania Game Commission. The common game species are pheasants, squirrels, turkeys, white-tailed deer, and rabbits. The hunting of groundhogs is not permitted at the park.

The lakes at French Creek State Park offer two varieties of fishing. Scotts Run Lake is a cold water fishery. It is stocked with trout by the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission. Hopewell Lake is a warm water fishery. The common game fish caught in the lake are muskellunge, walleye, northern pike, chain pickerel and largemouth and smallmouth bass. Both lakes are open to ice fishing, weather permitting.

Boating and swimming
Gas powered boats are prohibited in the lakes of French Creek State Park. All non powered and electric powered boats must have a current registration with any state or a launch permit for the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission.

The lakes are not open to swimming. A pool at nearby Hopewell Lake is open daily from 11:00am until 7:00pm from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend.

Disc golf and orienteering
Two disc golf courses are open year round at the park. Both courses wind through the woods near Hopewell Lake. Score cards and maps of the courses are available at the park.

French Creek State Park is considered by some as the "Orienteering Capital of North America". A permanent course is set up at the park. The goal is to find markers within the park by using a map and a compass. Maps are available at the park office.

Trails
French Creek State Park has more than 30 miles (48.28 km) of trails that are open to hiking and in some places horseback riding, mountain biking, and cross country skiing.


Marsh Creek State Park - website

Marsh Creek State Park is a 1,705 acre (6.90 km2) Pennsylvania State Park in Upper Uwchlan and Wallace Townships, Chester County, Pennsylvania in the United States. The park is the location of the 535 acre (2.16 km2) man made Marsh Creek Lake. The lake is a stop for migrating waterfowl. Marsh Creek State Park is two miles (3.22 km) west of Eagle on Pennsylvania Route 100.

Boating/Fishing
Marsh Creek Lake is open to fishing and recreational boating. It is a warm water fishery with largemouth bass, black crappie, walleye, tiger muskellunge, and channel catfish all swimming in its waters. The lake is a designated "big bass" lake only bass 15 inches (380 mm) and greater may be kept. Bass smaller than 15 inches (380 mm) must be released back into the lake. Gasoline powered boats are prohibited at Marsh Creek Lake. Boaters are restricted to using non powered or electric powered boats. All boats must be properly registered with any state. Marsh Creek Lake is open to ice fishing, ice boating and ice skating when it is frozen.

About 900 acres (3.6 km2) of Marsh Creek State Park are open to hunting. Hunters are expected to follow the rules and regulations of the Pennsylvania Game Commission. The common game species are squirrels, pheasant, waterfowl, rabbits and white-tailed deer. The hunting of groundhogs is prohibited.

Swimming
There is an "L" shaped swimming pool that is open at Marsh Creek State Park from 11:00 a.m. until 7:00 pm. The pool opens Memorial Day weekend and closes Labor Day weekend. A shallow wading pool is also available as well as a bathhouse, sunning area and snack bar.

Struble Lake - website

Located in Chester County, Struble Lake is a 386-acre impoundment owned by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and managed by the Fish and Boat Commission for public fishing and boating.

Fishing
Struble Lake has a number of warmwater/coolwater species, with good to excellent fishing for walleye, channel catfish and black crappie. All species of fish are managed under Commonwealth Inland Waters regulations. Shore fishing is permitted.

Fish habitat structures have been placed in the lake over the years as part of the Commission's Cooperative Fish Habitat Improvement Program.

Boating
Boating at Struble Lake is limited to boats powered by electric motors and un-powered boats. The primary type of boats used on the lake are moderate-draft fishing boats, sailboats and recreational runabouts.

A surfaced launch ramp and loading dock is available. There is a gravel parking lot that can accommodate at least 10 vehicles, and some limited lakeside parking.

Un-powered boats may be moored at the lake in accordance with Commission property regulations. To be used at the lake, boats must be registered or have a valid launch permit (permits are issued by the Commission or PA Dept. of Conservation and Natural Resources).
