WHAT IS A HOLISTIC HEALTH COUNSELOR?
A holistic health counselor is a practitioner that listens to YOU and teaches you to listen to the wisdom of YOUR body and its needs. I utilize a mind, body, and spirit approach in guiding you on your path to wellness. Together we will introduce healthier food choices slowly but steadily to encourage the formation of positive eating habits. We will learn about the TRANSFORMATIVE EFFECTS OF FOOD and how what you eat affects your future cellular development, tissue, skin, and other organs, as well as its influence on your thoughts, emotions, and behavioral patterns.

HOW DO I DIFFER FROM A TRADITIONAL NUTRITIONIST OR DIETICIAN?
I differ from traditional nutritionists and dieticians in that I also encourage my clients primary food needs. Primary food needs include other things besides actual foods that feed us. These include relationships, careers, exercise, hobbies, etc. Like a traditional nutritionist or dietician I encourage my clients to eat a healthy ratio of proteins, carbohydrates, and healthy fats. I encourage clients to eat less junk- foods, processed foods, and to reduce their salt and sugar intake. I refer to these foods as secondary foods. These include cigarettes and alcohol (anything taken by mouth).

Usually when either primary or secondary food needs are not being sufficiently met there is an imbalance in the other food. Both primary and secondary foods can add to or detract from the energy that our bodies require to physically and mentally perform their daily tasks. Holistic health counseling can bring balance to all of your food needs and give you more energy in your daily life. Let's work together to develop a customized eating plan specifically for you that is health supportive and gives you lasting energy.
