After two years of supplying heat forming systems to the PVC trim industry, Heatcon, Inc. is introducing a new product to the deck market. This new system allows a deck builder to reliably bend composite decking for radius installations.
For over 25 years HEATCON® has been a manufacturer of flexible heating blankets and controls for the aerospace composite repair industry. These products are designed and manufactured to meet the high standards of the aircraft repair industry.
In 2005 a large manufacturer of PVC Trim boards contacted HEATCON® to design a system to allow for the heating and bending of PVC Trim for homes. Since that time more than 500 PVC Trim Bending kits have been put in the field. Heat forming PVC trim, for radius installations, has become a common practice among the building industry. Heatcon’s system provided an easy and reliable method for the contractor to quickly make those bends at the job site.
HEATCON has also received numerous requests for a product and an innovative method suitable for heating composite decking material, in the field. After 1 ˝ years of testing and development HEATCON® is proud to introduce the HC99-300 Heat Forming Kit for the Composite Decking industry.
The HC99-300 kit includes everything needed to bend composite decking lumber, except insulation, which can be found locally. Some of the features of the kit include: digital temperature controller that allows the composite deck board to reach the correct temperature without burning the surface, two heating blankets that are used to sandwich the deck board and provide an even source of heat over the entire surface. Another benefit of the heaters is that they are flexible and can be rolled up and stored in their rugged carrying case.
This new kit is perfect for the deck builder looking to add radius work to their portfolio. The HC99-300 delivers a portable, reliable, and economical alternative to other heating options. “HEATCON® is very excited about the composite decking marketplace,” said Keith Skogland, Sales Manager of HEATCON®. “We have received an enthusiastic response from decking manufacturers and builders alike”. As radius deck work increases so should the sales of composite deck boards.
