All home improvement projects deserve good design, but few receive it. This can partly be blamed on an industry that is simply to easy to enter. Currently in our area there are no licensing requirements to be a contractor. So anyone with a truck full of tools and some basic skills can call themselves a contractor. Many times this results in over simplification of a project. Just because they can read a tape measure they may not have the ability to think beyond an addition being four walls and a roof, or a kitchen as just a place to put meals together. We think it should be much more than that. A cathedral ceiling is more than expensive air or wasted space if it serves to uplift the spirits of those who gather under it.

Good design should be compatible with the existing structure, the decision to replicate, complement, or contrast with what has come before. It should be timeless. This is mostly a matter of details, the smallest parts of a project, the texture of the tile, the blend of colors, how lighting can change every detail. But the strongest part of a good design is how it is built, it must be well engineered, and built using durable materials.
