A "qualified inspector" will vary from one location to another. In some areas, building inspectors may have the background and credentials to make a thorough, dependable deck inspection, while in others, a home inspector, engineer, or architect may be more qualified. If a deck needs repairs or maintenance, only an experienced and conscientious professional deck builder should be engaged for the job.

The issue of "qualified inspectors" is one that NADRA expects to address as the Deck Safety Month program moves forward. NADRA may, in the future, be able to provide listings of inspectors that have completed NADRA certificate courses and continue to meet annual continuing education requirements.
