Description |
I'm presently using acrylics on canvas. I create works of art that are
contemporary, textural and stylized, rendered by color placement and powerful
strokes with a pallet knife and brush. I enjoy painting what seems to be objects
when my intention is to paint simple patterns that look like objects from a distance.
My work shows a balanced sense of composition where I utilize methods such as
juxtaposing color, impasto technique mixed with blending and fauvism. My figural
pieces capture a true substance under the surface, showing emotion and a strong
sense of character sometimes left to the imagination.
Having a natural ability since childhood without the formal art
education, I usually choose to paint or sketch the images directly onto the
canvas versus
the traditional drawing then graphing.
"Ahead by a Nose" (24"x18") is a contemporary, impressionistic fauvist
piece painted with brush and palette knife to create this stylized impasto. |

Philosophy and Comments |
Painting images communicates
on many levels and individuals see what they see in art whether it's painted
intentionally as that or not. The multitude of lines, forms and colors add to
one's environment in ways not imagined. The illusion of simple brushstrokes that
appear as objects to the eye from a distance enhances the viewer's creativity
which enhances their life. Many people admire the fact that artist's can paint.
Whether or not someone can paint better than someone else isn't as important as
the viewer being able to see something in the work of art that others may not see.
"Pastel Poses" (24"x18") this contemporary figural embodies juxtaposing of pastel tones,
impasto, fauvism, touch of cubism, along with stylized delineation of some forms. |

Work Hours and Fee Schedule |

COMMISIONED PIECES: I work
from photos or your ideas of subject matter (send your photo, sketch etc.). I'll
create a fauvist (you can select specific colors that you want to have in the
painting for decorating purposes or personal preference), textural (light or
heavy impasto) rendition with juxtapositioned colors (colors that are placed
throughout the painting to give balance to the composition in the painting).
The main forms or subject (flowers, figures, landscape etc.) will be
recognizable yet original with the stylized black line also juxtaposed.
The backgrounds are minimal semi-abstract to abstract.
To order a commisioned painting please contact Terese at 215-703-0593.
Paintings are done in acrylic on
canvas. Ideal for corporate or personal collections. Various sizes and price
ranges available.
"The Witness of Time" (24"x18") is a semi abstract contemporary piece of
reduction art. I use varied subject matter (representational objects, still
life, figurals and landscapes, etc) with a consistent style.
